Welcome to the second issue of UCon, A Contemporary Arts Communique. This edition entitled 'Art & Culture Clash' will focus on how culture (nationality, high, popular, religious and political) influences the global landscape of the contemporary arts. For better or sometimes worse, culture has made a significant imprint in how the visual arts is viewed, created, collected and even threatened by some in its advancement.
United Creators is proud to interview for this issue talented international photographer Kristofer Dan-Bergman, a Swedish ex-pat living and working in New York City. Enigmatic collector Dwight Grimm, who is also an Executive Producer and Film Director, shares with us his passion and eclecticism for collecting the rare, obscure and the unusual encompassing both high and low cultural elements. Managing editor Gil Sembrano investigates the polarisation of American culture. He defends Texas art teacher, Sydney McGee who was recently suspended over a harmless museum field trip for her students and cheers the decision of allowing Lisa Jensen to hang her Peace wreath in front of her house.
Read more and find out what can happen when cultures clash in the art world. Enjoy!
